In May 2025, a spirited crew of women came together to raise the walls of new homes in Bend’s Daly Estates neighborhood. It was all part of Women Build Week, a Habitat for Humanity initiative that supports affordable housing while shining a spotlight on the essential role women play in building stronger communities.
We assembled a team of women from Brooks Resources and Taylor Brooks – along with a few male colleagues – to contribute our time and talents in support of this important program.
The week-long event focused on women-led households and the unique challenges they face in achieving homeownership. But the experience went far beyond construction—it created space for education, connection, and empowerment. The majority of the on-site construction crew was led by women, offering volunteers the opportunity to learn hands-on building skills, forge friendships, and give back in a truly tangible way.
Since its launch in 1991, Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program has brought together thousands of volunteers nationwide to hammer, saw, and sweat in service of equity and housing security. Though the spotlight is on women, everyone is welcome to join, regardless of experience or background.
For those inspired to be part of something meaningful, keep an eye out for Women Build Week 2026, when the program returns to Bend next May. And for those who can’t wait that long, Habitat offers volunteer opportunities all year long to continue the mission of building safe, affordable homes across our region.
In addition to our supportive team of volunteers, Brooks Resources is a financial sponsor of the Women’s Build program. We’re proud to support efforts that empower individuals, strengthen neighborhoods, and reflect the spirit of community.
