There are so many different organizations working hard to support our community during these difficult times, and nearly all have been forced to cancel their planned fund-raising events. Deschutes Children’s Foundation is one of them, and they’ve come up with a creative alternative to their planned “Ripples” event. Instead, you can join them virtually for a new event, dubbed “Riddles.”

Riddles: Creative Community Problem Solving will be held on Wednesday, October 14th. This is one of the most creative online events we’ve seen so far, as organizations try to find ways to raise much-needed funds. Their website has a complete instruction sheet, but we’ll tell you about the event in a nutshell here:

  • Choose a donation and a meal option (the meal will be delivered to you on 10/14!!)
  • Your delivery will include a puzzle which, when assembled, gives you a clue
  • Combine your clue with others online to solve the riddle
  • Win great prizes!

Sound like fun? We think so. But better yet, you will be supporting the mission of Deschutes Children’s Foundation, which essentially provides a “home” for 26 nonprofits that help children and families in our community. With four facilities in the Central Oregon region, DCF “relieves partners of the burden of facility overhead, allowing them to focus on their core missions: caring for over 20,000 of our community’s most vulnerable citizens each year.”

Founded 26 years ago, Deschutes Children’s Foundation has become a fixture in the fabric of our community when it comes to helping children and families. Some of the specific services that they offer are providing partners with rent-free classroom and office space and no-cost facility management. These are concerns taken off the shoulders of groups like Big Brother, Big Sister; Headstart; Saving Grace; Family Access Network; and many more.

Sign up now to participate in Riddles, and partake in “creative problem solving to piece together imperative funding for Deschutes Children’s Foundation!”
