Brooks Resources Corporation today announced the hiring of a new planning manager, Dale Van Valkenburg. Van Valkenburg joins Brooks Resources in this newly created position from the City of Bend, where he served as current planning manager. Van Valkenburg will be responsible for coordinating the land planning, land use and project entitlement processes for Brooks Resources’ developments, as well as directing the creation of development plans, land use strategies, and land use applications.

“With the expansion of our business activity and the increased demands of the land use system, our need for someone with Dale’s expertise has definitely grown,” said Kirk Schueler, president of Brooks Resources Corporation. “We could not have found a better fit for this new position and for Brooks Resources than Dale.”

In this position, Van Valkenburg will apply his experience in managing complex planning activities, interpreting and applying land use regulations, presenting information on land use processes and working with elected officials. He has a strong interest in working on the mixed-use, master-planned projects for which Brooks Resources is known, and is looking forward to working with a community-minded company which he has seen consistently demonstrate high ethical standards.

A Bend resident since 1990, Oregon native Van Valkenburg has worked in both the Deschutes County and City of Bend planning departments, as well as working as a planning consultant with the law firm of Bryant, Lovlien & Jarvis. He, his wife and two children enjoy whitewater rafting, skiing, mountain biking and camping in Bend’s sunny climate.
