Van Valkenburg has coordinated and managed real estate development projects for Brooks Resources since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy participating in committees like these, I hope that I can make a difference in helping both cities make the best decisions,\u201d said Van Valkenburg. \u201cIt\u2019s important to spend time ensuring that good plans are put in place now to guide the physical and economic infrastructure investments this region needs for both the current and future citizens of Central Oregon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Details on three committees in which Van Valkenburg participates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Group<\/strong>: This is a brand-new group and will hold its first meeting next week in Bend. Members will examine alternative sewage and sewer solutions and advise the city of Bend how to proceed with its sewer master plan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bend Economic Development Advisory Board<\/strong>: Van Valkenburg was recently appointed to serve a three-year term on this standing board chartered by the Bend City Council. The board provides input and advice to the Council on issues relating to economic development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project Advisory Committee\u00a0for Prineville\u2019s Transportation System Plan:<\/strong> This group provides guidance for Kittelson &amp; Associates, Inc. (in association with OTAK and DMC Consulting) as they work on updating Prineville\u2019s Transportation System Plan. The project is being managed by the City of Prineville.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A Bend resident since 1990, Oregon native Van Valkenburg has worked in both the Deschutes County and City of Bend planning departments, as well as working as a planning consultant with the law firm of Bryant, Lovlien &amp; Jarvis prior to joining Brooks Resources.
