Bend, Oregon real estate company’s free 2012 calendar features region’s public artwork

For more than 25 years, beautiful Central Oregon nature scenes have graced the walls of businesses and residences in the form of the Brooks Resources annual wall calendar. In 2012, the much-anticipated calendar takes a slightly different approach with a tableau of public art from around the region, installed over the last few decades by non-profit group, Art in Public Places.

Art in Public Places is a non-profit organization in Bend, Oregon that has set out to provide art to various locations throughout the city. It is the organization’s goal to bring a wide range of artistic styles and ideas to the community and place them throughout town to raise awareness for the arts while also adding to the beautiful natural landscape of Central Oregon.

“Bend’s public art helps to define who we are as a community,” said Jody Ward, board member for Art in Public Places. “Including some of this artwork in the Brooks Resources annual calendar just helps to bring more attention to the world-class collection of artwork we are able to enjoy in Bend on a daily basis.

The calendar, which is now available, is being distributed to local businesses by non-profit group Abilitree in exchange for a donation from Brooks Resources.

Individuals are welcome to visit the Brooks Resources corporate office in downtown Bend, Oregon to pick up a calendar for free. Brooks Resources is located at 409 NW Franklin in downtown Bend and will be open to distribute the calendars from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on all business days (closed the week of Christmas). Mount Bachelor Village Resort and the North Rim Lodge will also have calendars available for pick up.
