Brooks Resources Corporation today announced that its 2010 wall calendar is now available to the public. The calendar, which has been a Central Oregon community tradition for more than 40 years, features a photo by Loren Irving of the Deschutes River at Ryan Ranch just upstream of Dillon Falls in the Deschutes National Forest.

Irving has been researching and locating the encampments of John C. Fremont during his 1843 topographic expedition in Oregon. Within the last year, he discovered that Ryan Ranch Meadow was almost certainly the encampment of Fremont on the night of December 5th, 1843 based on journal entries and other evidence.

The calendar is being distributed to local businesses by non-profit group CORIL (Central Oregon Resources for Independent Living) in exchange for a donation from Brooks Resources.

“CORIL is once again pleased to partner with Brooks Resources for their annual Calendar delivery to our local businesses,” said Jim Lee, executive director of CORIL. “Our participants with disabilities are some of our best local ambassadors and are honored to wish everyone a Happy New Year while delivering the calendar around town.”

Individuals are welcome to visit the Brooks Resources corporate office in downtown Bend, Oregon to pick up a calendar for free. Brooks Resources is located at 409 NW Franklin in downtown Bend and will be open to distribute the calendars from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all business days (closed week of Christmas).
