Madras, OR – Yarrow, a new master-planned neighborhood situated in the rolling hills east of Madras, today announced that will require all homes and public areas inside the community to use WeatherTRAK “Smart” Irrigation Controllers. These water-saving controllers use satellite-based scheduling software and real-time weather forecast data to automatically adjust irrigation water application rates and times based on plant needs.

“Good stewardship of the land is important to us as a developer,” said Cameron Craig, project manager for Yarrow. “We know that with the growth of this area comes a responsible to conserve and protect our natural resources.”

Craig continued, “By requiring simple measures like WeatherTRAK we feel that we can reduce the impact on the environment as a whole. Our hope is that other developers will follow suit.”

This new development-wide initiative joins Yarrow’s requirement for all homes to be Earth Advantage-certified for energy efficiency, healthier indoor air and materials re-use.

Yarrow homesites, many with Cascade Mountain views, are now available starting at $77,000.

The new community of Yarrow, situated on 900 acres on the east side of Madras, will be a vibrant collection of neighborhoods incorporating neotraditional design principles. Madras Land Development Company, a joint venture of Brooks Resources Corporation, Eagle Crest and Taylor Northwest, is developing the property. Plans for the community include a variety of housing sizes and types, mixed-use area with retail amenities, pedestrian friendly streets and walkways, and a public golf course. At completion, the project will have approximately 1500-1700 single-family homes, and 100-200 multi-family units. To find out more, call 877-475-9779 or visit the Yarrow real estate website.
